The final one

For this unit, Matriarch in our Humanities class Drama, We read the play “A Raisin in the Sun” by Lorraine Hansbury. We discussed the role of women in our society and back then. We studied how the government practiced horrible things. The play was a very well written play and was also very inspiring. For this Action Project, we were instructed to write a prologue for “A Raisin in the Sun” in the style of a Greek chorus. I really disliked this project. I did not enjoy the script writing, but I liked the book. The book took place in the SouthSide of Chicago in the 1950’s. I really struggled writing the script because writing is not my forte. I procrastinate a lot, but I was able to really overcome the procrastination by thinking about how if I finished this AP I would be done. I really hope you enjoy!

I Need A Doctor

For this last unit, Prevention in our STEAM class Cure, we studied how different diseases can be prevented. We also looked at how we measure risk for certain types of illnesses based on different categories. Lifestyle, physical exercise genetics, and diet, are some of the factors that we looked at. We created a family medical tree. We were able to look at the family members and see how likely it would be for the disease to be passed on. For this Action Project, we played the role of a doctor. We would go through the patient’s medical profile and help them treat an illness or disease. I chose to do my grandmother because she is one of the most influential and important people to me. I really struggled to gather my information from my grandmother because there is a language barrier. I was able to overcome the barrier by writing down any words I did not understand and looked them up on the Hungarian dictionary. I hope you enjoy! Mark Hoffman. The Cancer Association. (2015

Ibuprofen

For this unit, Treatment, in our STEAM class Cure, we studied different ways we can treat illnesses. The specifics of the unit was the difference between a medicine and a drug. We learned about over-the-counter drugs, treatments, prescription drugs, and last but not least natural remedies. I really enjoyed learning these types of different ways you can cure the human body. As an athlete, it is essential to take care of your body. We also learned a lot about what the FDA requires on packaging for medicines. For the this Action Project, we were to choose an illness or symptom and identify three ways to cure or prevent it. To make the project come alive, we made our own medicine box. On the box, we were instructed to label the three cures or preventives we had found. The last three sides were filled with our graph and our (works cited) “ingredients.” I struggled with finding putting the box together. Although I am good at assembling things, I struggled with being exact for my box. I was a

Twenty Seventeen Cafe De Romans

In our Humanities class, Drama, this unit we read the play “A Doll’s House” by Henrik Ibsen. We had discussed the impact of women during that time period, and what we have now. We had made a project on feminism in Norway in the 1870’s. We rewatched a couple of scenes from the movie. For this Action Project, we were instructed to create a dramatic dialogue to address the question “Should and men and women have different roles in society?” As I state below, I believe women and men should have equal roles in society. We would answer this by placing ourselves into their shoes and creating a play. We would use one of the main characters from A Doll’s House. Nora, Paul, and Michelle Obama. We chose Michelle because of the extraordinary things she's done. We also chose her because of her voice of feminism. I worked with AA and MJF . Thanks for watching! Enjoy! I think men and women should have equal roles in society. It doesn’t matter the gender because we are all human. I think

Dear Petruchio, I want to let you know...

For this Unit, Shrew, in our last Humanities class Drama, we had focused heavily on gender equality. We had read the play “The Taming of the Shrew” by Shakespeare and had studied the play. The play showed us how marriage back then vs. now is represented. For our first AP, we were instructed to write our own sonnet in the style of Shakespeare. We had to play a role from one of Shakespeare's plays and address a problem. I decided to write my sonnet to Petruchio who is a character from the “Taming of the Shrew.” I had chosen him due to his hostility and equality issues. He was very abusive and rude. He had no idea what gender equality was and he was very disrespectful towards women. I really struggled with writing my sonnet. I have a very hard time writing plays or scripts, but with the help of friends and music, I was able to overcome this problem and come up with a creative sonnet. I think it shows the gender equality back then vs. now and the resemblance is still unfortunately si

The Cuff Of The Rotator

This unit, Surgery, in our STEAM class Cure, we learned about the body in all perspectives. We discussed the purpose of different surgeries and the process. For this Action Project, we were instructed to choose and present a prezi about the surgery. I decided to do rotator cuff surgery due to my mom tearing her rotator cuff last year. There are four different muscles in the rotator cuff, I chose to talk about the Subscapularis. I was really interested in this muscle because it is the most common use in everyday life. This muscle helps the whole arm move vertically and horizontal. I struggled a lot with finding different resources to use. I knew a lot about this because of my mom, but not as much as I thought. I was able to overcome this by sitting down, listening to music, and persevering. I really enjoyed this Action Project more than some of the other ones that i’ve done. Hope you enjoy!

Prepare To Be Blown Away By This M.A.G.I.C. Plan

In my second elective term for my class M.A.G.I.C., we studied who inspires us and who/what motivates us. M.A.G.I.C. stands for “Mentoring Achievement of Goals and Inspiring Champions.” We studied all kinds of different people who are our mentors or inspiration. I chose Garry Kasparov as my mentor and inspiration, I chose this due to how successful he is not just in chess but in life. Kasparov is a world-class chess player and a political activist. In 2006, he had started the Russian Opposition. The Russian Opposition is a group of various political parties, movements, and groups of citizens, who oppose the policies of Vladimir Putin. Kasparov advocated and spoke out against Putin, and as a result, he was almost killed several times. I also chose a mentor in my personal life that helped me and inspired me. I chose my teammate from fencing Cameron Woods. He inspired me and drove me to success. Although I am not perfect, he taught me to be the best I cou
