Dogs Or Superdogs?

For my first STEAM course of my sophomore year, I am taking a class called population. In this unit, we learned about central tendencies, standard deviation, and permutation, combinations, factorials, and box & whisker plots. We also learned about genetic and heritable traits of an organism, theories, phenotypes, genotypes, natural selection, the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, and dominant and recessive traits. I thought that this AP is a really cool project, although I had some trouble researching my animals and getting their weight.

I then chose three species that I thought would survive best in Russia's harsh weather conditions. The species I chose were the Husky weighing 61 pounds, the German shepherd weighing 46.5 pounds, and a Labradoodle mix weighing 39.06 pounds. I chose these three dogs because all three of them are fairly big dogs, they have long thick fur, and they can survive in cold condition climates. I think all of these animals will pass down thick fur, and big size. These are also dogs that can survive on their own.

These three animals have traits in them that can survive the Russia's environment.

Dogs originated from wolves. We then domesticated wolves. Domestication didn’t just change when we did this. Many things changed when we domesticated wolves, their muzzles, teeth, and size changed. According to PBS, Darwin thought that diversity must reflect interbreeding with wild dogs. DNA said otherwise. Modern dogs are ancestors of the wolf, because of that; there may be a chance that this happened twice producing two groups of dogs that came from the same ancestor.

Below you can find all of my data to my ten different dogs. Also you can find the Max, min, range, mean, median, mode, quartile one and quartile three.

For my calculations I researched different dogs and found out their weight. I then created a Plot and Whisker diagram. The weights of these dogs vary from 12 lbs. - 6l lbs.

I chose three out of the ten dogs to survive in Russia. There are are two different ways to release my dogs into nature. The first way to release them is to use combinations. Combinations means order does not matter. The second way of releasing them is called permutation. Permutation means orders does not matter. In this process we are sending these ten dogs out and letting "survival of the fittest" take its course.
